Mos Def will release his highly-anticipated sophomore solo release, The New Danger (Geffen Records), on September 28th. In addition, he has received a 2004 Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie for his critically acclaimed role in HBO Films' Something the Lord Made.
The New Danger was recorded at Longview Studios in North Brookfield, MA and The Cutting Room in New York City, and will include 18 new songs including tracks such as "Ghetto Rock," "Boogie Man," "Bed Stuy Parade and Funeral March," "Close Edge" and "Y.E.A." The release of the album will be followed by a national concert tour this fall. In addition, the "Mos Def Big Band" (BIGGIE!) will appear at New York City's Delacorte Theater in Central Park on August 27th as part of the "Joe's Pub In The Park" concert series. Drawing from material by Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Gil-Scott Heron, Beyonce and original compositions, Mos Def will lead a band featuring some of the leading names in jazz, with musical direction by percussionist Will Calhoun (Black Jack Johnson/Living Colour).
