    Hip Hop and Homosexuality

Homosexuality is a topic that most men feel very uncomfortable discussing. many dismiss immediately and diss anyone who is a homosexual. In hip hop we have conscious rappers like Chuck D and KRS-ONE who talk about social issues, but we never hear any talk about homosexuality. I would like to see a rapper stand up for homosexuals and include them in the hip hop community.

People have their reasons for opposing homosexuality whether it is religious, not natural, or whatever. The point is that whatever your sexual orientation you deserve all the rights under law. We have to stand up and not tolerate inequality or intolerance. People only think of the sex between two men when they discuss homosexuality. We do not move forward as a society by saying some are cool and others ain't. We have oppressed groups dissing oppressed groups. How fucked up is that?

Lets not be immature here. No statements here saying "you're gay" or any shit like that cause I am a heterosexual. I want a real discussion on a topic that many men are real uncomfortable talking about.

Gays should be able to get married, but beside that, I wouldn't call them "oppressed." Not in the US really.

And why would a rapper like Chuck D do a song about gay people? I don't get it. It's not Hip-hop's job to search for every little injustice and talk about it. They're musicians, not activists.

    Re: Hip Hop and Homosexuality

    i honestly don't give a shit...

    "pursuit of happiness"....that's it...

it's taboo in hip hop cause hip hop is all too manly and egotistical...

there's a reason why there aren't any platinum selling homos out there...

BUT...there's a lot of undercover pickle lickers out there...SUPPOSEDLY Russell simmons, Tyler Perry & Puffy all swing both ways...and they don't come out just cause it's even taboo in the public's eye and it will always be...

and to be honest...it should be...i don't care what sack suckers do...as long as they keep away from me...im not homophobic...but it just makes me sick...physically, almost to the point of regurgitation

    Re: Hip Hop and Homosexuality

If homosexuality is not being discussed, why is practically all other issues being mentioned. Racism is cool to discuss and even gender inequality has been mentioned. Dudes like Chuck D have based there music towards fighting injustices. The same for immortal technique. Hip hop is supposed to be for everybody and I find it very contradicting to say you represent everyone but diss and ignore the homosexual brothers and sisters, in particular the brothers.

RXL, why would you want homosexuals away from you? Do you think that they are always thinking about having sex with you? I bet your heterosexual buddies do so as well. We all have thoughts that gross us out or would never even pursue, but to suggest that you would want to not be near a homosexual man because possibly you may think that they want to fuck you? do you think of your heterosexual guy friends as fucking women when you first see them? Im not trying to sound like a dick Im jusut poising some challenging questions to you.

You just paraphrased your first post, which I already responded to. I'm not going to paraphrase my original reply.

What is oppression to you? Homosexuals are insulted, beaten, discriminated.

    Re: Hip Hop and Homosexuality

I have an older sibling that is gay....and yea, when i found out...i didn't speak to him for two years, then i got a bit older, and realised 'fuck it...he's family'....

personally, i don't like what they do, but if they keep it to themselves, as long as they are happy right?

picture it like this....if your mother or father turned gay tomorrow...would you HATE them? honestly full HATE?

    no...

people judge on too many things and its bullshit.

If i liked a rapper...and then found out he was gay, i would not stop buying his CD's or stop listening to him....

i dunno, i just think people need to grow up a bit

    See...

What people don't understand...and what's so ridiculous about this whole subject...

Is that people WILL NEVER FULLY ACCEPT EVERYTHING!!!

And that's what's being asked of them...

To accept everything...abortion, stem cell research, gays, lesbians, gays and lesbians in the military, gay pride parades, feminism, marxism, communisim, gun bans, the NRA, conceal and carry laws, the death dentence, prisons, PETA, animal abuse, vegetarians, meat-eaters, KFC, slaughterhouses, porn, nipples during the Superbowl, the UFC, women in the PGA, whaling, baby seal bashing, Korean missle testing, Bumfights, Sarah Palin, Obama appointing tax cheat after tax cheat to office, the Octo-mom, kids bullfighting, saggin pants...EVERY RELIGION ANYONE WANTS TO PRACTICE...

It's all just TOO MUCH to flow with...people have gotta have differences...

Sometimes...the shit sounds like ya'll want a Brave New World...ya'll ever read that?
Where people, over time, are scientifically created to be happy with their station in life, no matter what it is...to accept everything without dissent or rebellion.
