The SAT

the ocean mist pervaded trees
out the window, spacious greens
lured me away from my choices, listed a to d..
& a blitz on fate careened out the door,
who said lives are picked at age eighteen anymore?
plus, outside smething waited -
abandoned, the flocks hid
their gesture-laden, sheepish
pairs of hands in their pockets
we were soul searching,
trying to emancipate blocks with
the free thought that we brought
to answer as prophets
but now, i wanted one
when summer comes and winter's enbalmed
& princesses, blonde and brown,
are visibly bronzed
a mint on my tongue,
about now mister intimate's gone;
'cause all i really want is her fingers and palms
to interlock on
mine, and as the easil attests:
the brush strokes, a lush ode
to the people who best
free me from rest,
