You broke the rules but I'll let you off!

The bright twilight, faded away into the dark night
The sniper, laying engulfed by darkness, except for the moons light

Here and there, war everywere throughout the city
Machine guns, and rifles broke silence spasmodically
Like dogs barking and roaming on lone farms
Citizens and police were waging another civil war

On a rooftop in the middle of the city, laid the sniper
Over his shoulder, a pair of glasses, and beside him, a rifle
Eyes were deep cold, the type used to looking death
Pausing, wondering if he should light up a ciggarrette
Dangerous, the light might be seen, but he took the risk
Striking a match, and as he put it up to his lips
Immediately a bullet wizzed, and hit the tip of the roof top
The sniper took another whiff, and put the ciggarrette out
As he grabbed his rifle, slowly raised his head up, as a bullet came by
Dropping down immediately, cursing, talking to himself, "Time to die."
He rolled over to a chimney, slowly raised up behind it
Only nothing to be seen, enemy undercover, like him and the roof binded
As an armored car came slowly down the street
Stopping on the other side, the engine roaring, just made his heartbeat
Wanting to fire, but knowing the bullets couldn't peirce steel
Then peered an elder woman out of the corner street, with a tattered shawl
As she told were the sniper lay, to the man in the turret of the car
The turret opened, as the man's head and shoulders peered out
As the woman scattered, the sniper fired and she fell to the ground
The sniper raised his rifle, fired again as the mans head dropped heavily
In the blink of an eye, a shot fired, the sniper was hit, but it wasn't deadly
Trying to pick the rifle up but his right forearm was dead, wounded bruise
Cutting his shirt to tie it around the arm, as the thick blood oozed
A hole were the bullet impacted, but it didn't come out, lodged in the bone
He lay there, grinding his teeth to rid the pain, pouring iodine in the wound

The the sniper revised a plan, as he stuck out his rifle with his hat on top
Stuck it over the rooftop, and sure enough there was a gunshot
He hung his dead arm over the ledge, waiting for him to take the bait
He grabbed his revolver from his back pocket, and had to wait
The sniper peered over the ledge and there was the other sniper below
He drawed back the revolver, and with a sigh he let the bullet go
As the sniper hopped down, he couldnt help the curiosity that was overcoming
Maybe it'd be someone he trained with, and chose one side over the other
He went to check out who he killed, sad enough, it was his own brother...

Time

My granpses, so sweet they’re bland
let their lives fall through their fingers like sand
So I aughta maximize my lot but..
My life slips through my hands free as water.
Time goes by, a full tank becomes dry
Plenty fish to catch, they just dry up and die
Many years later I still wonder why
Nothings been achieved, my life’s a dead lie

Procrastinated most of my ages
Sages achieved greatness by my time status
Hands are fruitless, but in shrewdness
What’s this entire world produced to us
Due unto us, the right to live free
Though one block of cheese costs me a gold leaf
Broke, poor, disadvantaged and all
But wealth just seems to impoverish us more
Water and a feed is all that I need
Aside from my wife and a place to breed

Time slips passed and abandons us fast
Keep up! Don’t let yourself be left last
Once again, and I don’t pretend
The reality of life races to an end
Become some body, or just become nothing
Achievement is struggle, a fight for becoming
But what the heck son, isn’t life puzzling
Do nothing or not, a struggle is still coming
Ocne upon a time I kept up with my mind
Then life happened! Now I scramble to get mine

Lev gets the vote. I liked the vivid storytelling. I didn't like the ending. It was an attempt at a twist but it didn't work. Morbid, yours was harder to get into & more choppy. Lev got it because his was more interesting & I cared where he was taking his story more.
