Couple recording questions.

I'm new to the whole recording scene.

I'm plannin' on gettin' an Audio Mbox 2 sometime soon.
Just wondering.
Do all rapper's overdub there whole verse? I'm gettin' use to this kinda fusterating at first.
Also in cool edit. when people say to "Compress" it and "Mix" compress means? and mixing just means playing with different filters and what not to get your sound perfected right? it's not a certain thing you half to do is it?
And if you got any tips to help me get better I'd love to here them thanks.

no, all rappers dont overdub there whole verse, there are a million ways to overdub.

and mixing is pretty much an art... there are so many diff techniques to it its hard to describe how to do it exactly, cuz you'll get alot of different answers.

and look up "audio compresser" in google.

So an audio compressor is something you do when.
I read a bit and all I got from it was you use it to make your file size smaller.
So when would you do this. After everything? 'Cause I had some people tellin' me you do it right after you record your verse?

and i can't answer you about "when you do it"... because there are a lot of different techniques to compression.

if you dont understand it you probably shouldnt be doing it, because you stand to do more harm than good. Wait until you read up on it a little more, then figure out what it actually does... and figure out how to recognize it, and know when and when not to use it.

you can either quit, or keep doin it and not worry about what people say about you, or work on manipulating your sound

read up on compression and other effects...as a matter of fact, record a verse and start usin every effect that there is just to see what it does
