I turn the corner and there you are
While we both pretend not to see each other
We keep our eyes straight ahead
And I’m happy we passed one another
We were best friends for a year
Full of laughter, full of tears
In this short time of what we thought would last forever
We said our friendship would never die
We would always see eye to eye
But those years have now been altered
And the friendship was cut short from many years to only one
I know it’s the end
This is not a battle to have been won
You don’t seem to understand why it ended
Or that I didn’t want it to
But sometimes in life
You go against your better judgment and do what you have to do
This was one of those cases
I could no longer call you my friend
I now know we can never go back
And this is what I have to realize
That it’s the end
