    Who here can beat Dell?

    I'm getting a new system from Dell for $800...

    I mostly use the computer for graphic design, a little of watching movies, a little of listening to music, and I may tap into multimedia work later.

    Here is what I custom built with Dell, and I'm happy with the setup with the exception of the graphics card(I don't know if it's good enough for graphic design and/or editing movies maybe, and is AGP the way to go?) and the lack of upgradeability.

    I got something similair for 400 dollars from a friend. 2.5 ghz CPU, Geforce 3 card, win2000 OS, 512 RAM, 40gb HD... Creative 5.1 speaker system. And some used monitor keyboard and shit.

    What's your Bus speed though? If it's low, then all your other components' speeds are not worth all they can be... i.e. you're wasting money.

    Word. Pentium 2 lasted me about 10 years running Windows 98.

    When I work on large graphics files it takes about a minute just to save... And it lags when I press buttons...

    Yeah, I slutted the shit out of my old ass computer. But it had a good run. It was the top of the line shit back then. I got it from a professional designer who retired...

    I'll be sad when I finally bury it.
