    History Class. . .Lesson I

As the ship sails, bloody murder drips down the oceans cheek
While men clutch crucifixes, praying, hoping to reach a beach
Carrying Gods message, searching for spices, land, and gold
But lo and behold, the red man would profit them a million fold
From friendly gatherings to killing fulfilling the Queens wishes
To the Trail of Tears, fallen to liquor and beer were the indigenous
Peoples, a hundred and fifty plus exterminated
Came across the Bering Strait before New World seas were navigated
The last ice age of the Sandia, came to what we call the home of the brave
Never felt the chains of the slave or the need to hide in caves
Then appeared their pale brethren, sent by the one in heaven
Soulless creatures wielding diabolical ingenious tools and weapons
Befriended the red men, labeled them Indians out of idiocy
As Columbus slowly coerced them to convert to Christianity
Called them savages because their technology was below average
But humanitarians enslave, kill, conquer, steal, and disparage
Carnage, a few hundred years, Indian Removal Act, Trail of Tears
Three hundred sixty five days and a half, the Cherokee nation disappeared
Pushed back to create space for those of pale face
The greater race dominates because of self interest and hate
1839, seventy thousand Natives crowded Oklahoma territory
Oppressed by the same Constitution the U.S. lifted from the Iroquois...

...In 1851, the Dakota ceded land to the U.S. for several million
But payments were never delivered so began the battles and killing
The Spirit Lake Massacre, renegade Dakotas watched their land disappear
While Andrew Myrick states clear, "The Natives can eat grass all year"
So begin the Dakota Conflict Trials for murder and other outrages
But never was it mentioned, the paper was owned by the land owners and traders
So three hundred ninety three trials are conducted, with 323 convicted
303 are to be hanged, the other 20 are jailed with the acquitted
1,700 uncondemned Dakotas are still imprisoned
Through intervention, only 39 are sentenced by Lincoln
So it occurs, the greatest mass execution in U.S. history
Injustice still occurs...can't worship their God through peyote
Says the Supreme Court in the Employment Division v. Smith
"Peyote is a drug", but wine isn't so pass the chalice
During Eucharist, it's ludicrous how religion is outlawed
Because they're 'social dangers' to those who exist out doors
Of perception, no acid flashback so ravers want their cash back
But for religious purposes, Natives are pleased with the experience they get back
But on October 12th we gather to celebrate an American icon
While we forget the land we live on, is the same land they died on...

    . . Class is dismissed . .

Nice piece, loved the historical content and I definately liked this. Nothing much to critique, everything seems there and it was a nice storytelling style. Excellent piece, and im looking forward to seeing more.

Very nice write, good use of historical reference and documentation, very good use of topic. Well worded and put together in a way that did not distract the reader from the content. I liked the way you included the banning of their religous practices, as peyote was their medium for what we know as prayer. I have been on a few reservations and althought the practice is outlawed, no one goes in and arrests those trible chiefs who to this day, incorperate peyote into thier rituals. I never seen it at least, but I thought it was cool you mentioned this. Great line in which you compared their use of peyote and the use of whine, or alcohol, very good comparison to make, it spoke volumes... You did not need to say more, it was implied, great!

yo man a definite nice piece, loved the history factor you used for it and it was tight. although I thought the flow was thrown off a bit in the second verse but overall it was dope. a nice usage of wordplay and you stayed on topic through the whole thing with tight structure. keep it up bro. peace
