Fourth grade I won some stupid 2 line poem contest an kept writing ever since
I was fairly naturally gifted in primary school and did solid with imagery and loved writing stories and stuff, but left it all behind in high school. In high school I had a topic once where we were to write about "A great achievement". I can't remember how I flipped it but basically it was an entire piece about the opium trip of a vietnam soldier. Teacher accused me of being high when I wrote it.
I also had a poetry class in first year in school which taught us all the alliteration an assonance and everything but I never cared about it and just annoyed the teacher all the time.
I started writing rap verses when I was 13, which is really young thinking back. Was on a fake bebo page. In 2007 I did a few topicals on a few weird sites, and then in 2008 I was over on HHA writing proper topicals with YD. Over the years, I started to include a lot of those poetic techniques we learned in school and instead of focusing on lyricism and ridiculously complex metaphors, I switched to storytelling. Love telling a story of a new location through imagery.
