Monitor Control...
right now I just want an affordable piece of equipment that will allow me to turn up the volume on my monitors without reachin' behind the muhfuckas every time... but, before too long, I do plan to cop another set of active monitors and another set of headphones... so I'm lookin' at a couple options... any input on these???

or!!!
also, I will eventually upgrade my interface... is there a decent interface under $500 that includes monitor control???

Re: Monitor Control...
Dont your monitors connect to an interface from your machine?
-
Re: Monitor Control...
About the interface... no.
Out of those, the Mackie looks the best. Both would probably do the job tho. If it's just volume control you want you can just control it from your program.

Re: Monitor Control...
Ahh its cause I use a control unit... the maser volume has another fader for sending so much to the output which is my (borrowed lmao) monitors... and my headphones are through an interface

Re: Monitor Control...
more info... as it is, I keep my monitors switched off and the volume knobs all the way down... when it's time to work, I switch them on and turn them up to where I want to listen... I know it's not a good idea to leave them powered on all the time... but can I leave the volume knobs up where I like them, and just control the volume from my program??? I've always been worried about damagin' my monitors... they're too expensive to risk it... lol...

Re: Monitor Control...
initially you should be turning them on and turning them up as the very last step in setting up a session. Even when you have a monitor controller you do this from the monitors themselves. if you want to control the volume of your monitors during your session the set up a monitor fader in your program.

Re: Monitor Control...
gotcha... so turn the monitors up to where I want max volume to be... and then just use my program to control the listenin' level during a session??? so I really won't need a monitor control unit until I actually have another set of monitors...

Re: Monitor Control...
you got it. Even after you get an extra pair of monitors you don't need a controller. You just set up a fader for each set.

Re: Monitor Control...
oh... so what's the point of monitor controllers really???

Re: Monitor Control...
it's easier to have it all set up on a switch that never changes. Plus the units offer a lot more than the basic need for volume control.
